RJA #3a: Research Topic Exploration

So far in researching autism in children and possible causes and treatments, I have found a lot of studies involved with cognitive development in relation to autism. Most have been scholarly journals but I have found some useful organizations dedicated to helping families with autistic relatives. The most interesting thing about these websites is that some have a newsletter filled with new or updated information regarding autism. There are also some government websites involved in research for learning disabilities that could be helpful.

So far, there seem to be two main causes linked to autism. One is genetic vulnerability and the other is environmental factors. It will be very interesting to discover the details of each theory. As for treatment, it seems early diagnosis (which involves recognizing a series of signs) is the key. I am hoping to find a study or two dedicated to a more absolute way of diagnosis, though.
