Ideas for field research:
1) Interview classmate who's son is autistic
2) Interview pediatrician who has diagnosed/treated autism
3) Attend Autism Answers meeting (given by Autism Society of Colorado during lunch)

I've heard a lot about how a gluten free diet helps in treating autism so maybe interviewing a dietitian or nutritionist could give you some good information.
